Things Progress So Nicely

The Cathedral Center in Los Angeles replaced their chapel seating and gave us some chairs.  These are attractive, comfortable and sturdy.  We've taken the pews to storage and installed the chairs and it makes a wonderful change.  The chapel now look spacious, clean, light and airy.  We can move the chairs as seems good for some particular occasion.  If we need to, we can add some more,  currently stored in a closet.  We are very pleased and we think you will be as well.

An even more imp[ortant event, Holy Cross has received another man trying his vocation, so we ask you to pray for Jose, for discernment and perseverance.  Jose was born in Cuba, educated in Puerto Rico and worked in the Miami school district.  He tried his vocation at Blue Cloud Abbey in North Dakota and decided after two years it was not the right community for him.  He feels called to us and meets our requirements. We welcome him and hope that we are the right community.

I believe you meant to say that Blue Cloud Abbey is in South Dakota. It is in the small town of Marvin near the border with Minnesota, and I have visited there several times. It is the only abbey in the world named after a Lakota chief, who was responsible for giving the monks the land on which they built. Best wishes to Jose. The monks of Blue Cloud have been very hospitable in the past to Episcopalians near them in S. Dakota.
