What I Did on my Summer Vacation!
I spent a week in the moutains near Mendocino playing the cello at a chamber music camp. This was much fun, and very intense work. In the end I managed to perform Dido's Lament by Henri Purcell with three other cellists, and a portion of Brahms Hungarian Dances (No. 4) as part of a quintet. There were a fair number of rough edges, but I was thrilled inasmuch as I had never done this before. I met lots of fine people and got a lot of excercise lugging my cello from place to place. A major high point among several was the faculty concert of the great Schubert Quintet. Wow! So much richness!
